Are you ready? Here it is; Technology in the classroom isn’t our goal, it’s our Trojan horse.
Over the years, we realized something magical happens when we show educators how engaged and creative their students naturally become when learning with technology — they suddenly realize it means re-thinking their tried & true methods. Instead of solely imparting knowledge, their focus shifts toward fostering a love for lifelong learning. For many educators, that’s too scary a thought so they close the door on tech (and on us). For others though, it’s a whirlwind of excitement, rejuvenation, and a healthy dose of fear. These are the educators who are open to change, and these are the educators we obsess about.
Here’s a more well-known secret; the education system of today was created to support the Industrial Revolution — an event that ended long ago. Since then, the system has become less and less effective at meeting society’s needs, at preparing students for the real world. This is no fault of the education system mind you, this happened because society evolved and the education system was left behind. Worse off, the majority of parents and educators recognize this reality and feel powerless to do anything about it.
Here’s the good news, we don’t feel powerless. We’ve been at this for over a decade and we have learned a lot thanks to the open-minded educators willing to venture into the unknown with us. Everything we’ve found so far has led us to believe the future is bright. Not just for students, but for educators embracing change. Sure, the job itself changes and there's a lot of ambiguity but most find it more rewarding and less draining. Imagine, educators with plenty of energy at the end of the day — what a world!
In short, we’re on a journey to find out what modern education looks like and transform learning along the way. We don’t know what we’ll stumble upon as we continue but we’re excited by all we’ve found so far and the possibilities that lay ahead. We invite you to join us. All you have to do is keep your classroom door open and invite us in.
